"Series of 1907" US Five Dollar "Woodchopper" Bill

A Series of 1907 US five dollar ‘Woodchopper’ note. These paper notes came into circulation in the 1860s. The note features a central scene depicting a woodchopping pioneer with his family and dog. This is one of the last ‘horse blanket’ notes, so named for its large size, and one of the last issued with the red Treasury Department ‘V’ seal and serial number on the front. These bills were printed through the 1920s. The note bears the signature of Harley V. Speelman, Register of the Treasury, and Frank White, Treasurer of the United States, indicating it was printed circa 1922-1927, serial number H87320777. The note is graded a 63, Choice Uncirculated, by the Paper Money Guaranty.

Condition

Previous evaluation denotes “small tears”. The note is preserved in a plastic case.
