The colorful yet tonal palette of this painting illustrates the bright and airy light that makes this era of artists renown. Orra Beane was born in Indiana then married and moved to California before spending the years 1910-1920 in Phoenix, Arizona. The artist is considered a competent painter and dessert scenes are her signature subject. The back of the painted bears written notes to read ‘Colorful Superstition, giant sahuaro, palo verde and sage, Arizona desert’ The painting is housed in the original carved and gilt wood frame.
