Horse Hair Vase by Native American Pueblo Artist Tony Mirabal

A beautiful horse hair vase by talented Native American Pueblo Artist, Tony Mirabal. The pottery is made from Taos, New Mexico mountain clay using horse hair from the tail and mane. It is fired using a special technique of applying the hair during firing. Fine lines are created with mane hair, while thick lines are created from tail hair. The color of each piece is determined by the firing technique. After it is fired, it is polished with a tumbled river rock to a nice smooth finish. There is no other paint or glaze is used in the finish. This piece is signed Tony Mirabal, Taos Pueblo 2000.
