Jorge Sendra Signed Nude Artwork Print

Item Details

A signed nude artwork print, the original drawing by Spanish artist Jorge Sendra. This piece depicts both the front and back views of a nude male, their bodies overlapping a circle with a desert scene and linear accents. The artist has accented the piece by adding hand-drawn genitalia. This piece is signed ‘Sendra 2001’ to the bottom right-hand corner. Presented under glass with a double mat in a metal frame with a black finish. This piece coordinates with the artist’s other nude prints, items 15LAX002-149 and 15LAX002-151. According to the consignor, this unknown artist, Sendra (1930-2004) was born in Barcelona but died in California. The Spanish artist’s early work was inspired by the school of nature that inspired many Catalan painters at the end of the 19th century, the peasant world of realities. His work is based on a very subtle spectrum of lines and negative spaces and avoids anecdotes. The brevity of his lines purifies, lightens, condenses, and engenders his poise and harmony. He was greatly influenced by Mexican artists Ricardo Martinez and Francisco Zuniga and Native American artist RC Gorman. His work is in the private collections of Mr. and Mrs. Francisco Fuster de la Riva (VP Banco Exterior of Spain) and Lee Fisher (Motion Picture Art Director).
