An antique American late Empire style secretary bookcase, circa 1850s, covered in fine crotch figured mahogany veneers. This stunning piece features a bookcase to the top with tall, nine-paned glass window cabinet doors above drawers with hand-cut dovetail joinery. A flip open writing surface is concealed just above a pair of lower drawers. This piece has goornrck columns on either side and is supported by bracket feet. The piece is primarily constructed of cherry and white pine secondary. It is thought to have been made in New York or New England.
Condition
Some scratches, numerous veneer chips especially around top edges. Missing knob.
