Book of Wax Art by Jorge Sendra
Item Details
A book of six wax art landscapes by Jorge Sendra. According to the consignor, this unknown artist, Sendra (1930-2004) was born in Barcelona but died in California. The Spanish artist’s early work was inspired by the school of nature that inspired many Catalan painters at the end of the 19th century, the peasant world of realities. His work is based on a very subtle spectrum of lines and negative spaces and avoids anecdotes. The brevity of his lines purifies, lightens, condenses, and engenders his poise and harmony. He was greatly influenced by Mexican artists Ricardo Martinez and Francisco Zuniga and Native American artist RC Gorman. His work is in the private collections of Mr. and Mrs. Francisco Fuster de la Riva (VP Banco Exterior of Spain) and Lee Fisher (Motion Picture Art Director). The art works were created using colored melted waxes applied to paper and blended to create images of landscapes. They are presented in a handcrafted white portfolio, labeled to the front, with a description to the last page and a green ribbon tie.
