Item Details
An original batik by Jerome Wallace. Wallace (b. 1931) is a Hawaiian artist who created art using the batik technique. Batik uses wax-resist dying to create pattern and color rich textiles; the tradition comes from various African and Asian cultures but is well-known from Indonesia. Wallace used this technique with raw silk and nature dyes to create a work which features two muted purple graphic symbols on a light blue background. The work is signed to the lower right. It is presented without glass in a chrome frame; ready to hang.
