19th Century Chromolithograph with Sheep Herd and Shepherdess

Item Details

A 19th century chromolithograph by Belgian artist Cornelius van Leemputten (1841–1902) which depicts a herd of sheep and a shepherdess. The sheep are at the bottom of a slight hill with a copse of trees to the left and a treeline and cloudy sky in the distance. The piece is beautifully rendered in subtle shades of green and gray blue with a lovely atmospheric sense of nature and time. The work is displayed under glass in a simple but elegant black wood frame with narrow gilt filet.
