African One String Instrument

Item Details

A vintage one string instrument, thought to be an African form of sokou (horse’s tail) or goje, both one string violins with small bows. With a carved long neck and ornate horned animal figure head, this string instrument includes one tuning peg to tighten the string and a v-shaped bridge. The decorative floral carved back appears to be nailed and covered with a goat skin.

Condition

One horn is broken, opening by neck has been repaired. No bow.
