19c Bonheur du Jour Marquetry Lady's Writing Desk

Item Details

An exquisite French ‘bonheur du jour’ lady’s writing desk or secretary, made of mixed woods, primarily rosewood, walnut and mahogany, with intricate floral marquetry inlay and brass trim. This petite piece features a drawer with a sliding writing surface and is raised on slender cabriole legs, with an approximate date of manufacture in the Victorian era, c. 1860.

Condition

There are a few stains to top shelf finish, and the lower drawer/writing surface has a key assembly that needs re-installed (brass plate and key-style knob are present.)
