Antique French Brass Firescreen from Ruth Lyon's Estate
Item Details
An antique brass firescreen, reportedly from the Alsace-Lorraine region, and belonging to the Ruth Lyon estate. The polished brass screen has a highly detailed embossed depiction of a European street, with storefronts with ‘A la Fourmi’ on the signage, to the left side with a woman seated to the left, and a formally dressed woman in the center with a gentleman-in-waiting at her side. The screen is dated ‘1731’ to the top, inside an oval medallion, and finished with a gadrooned border, and base band embellished with scrolling vines, flowers and satyr’s head to the center. The firescreen sits upon reeded curved legs. A magazine clipping with photograph of Lyons seated in front of this particular firescreen is included.
