Pre-Columbian Colima Earthenware Effigy, c. 100 BC

Item Details

A Pre-Columbian effigy of a woman from the Western culture of Colima in Mexico, dated circa 100 B.C. The earthenware effigy is standing, the figure wears a headdress and the hollow figure seams to have beads interned (judging by the rattle). A business card with the figure indicates the figure was purchased from a dealer in Pre-Columbian art, 1970.

Condition

There are no apparent repairs and very little chipping or damage.
