Wilderness, A Journal of Quiet Adventure In Alaska by Rockwell Kent (1882-1971), published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons, The Knickerbocker Press in 1920. The charming book chronicles the authors trip to Alaska, taken with his son in 1918-1919. Profusely illustrated with drawings by the author, the plates were carefully engraved under the supervision of William Watt. Most of the book was written in journal style on Fox Island, the purpose was to merely have a recorded history of ‘a wonderfully happy time’.
The book has paper covered boards with black and white illustration to the front.
Condition
The book’s extremities show wear at the spine, hinge and especially the top right corner. The interior illustrations are in good condition, there is a very slight water stain to many of the inner corners at the binding. The binding is tight.
