Jacob Pfieffer Original Oil Painting on Board

Item Details

An original oil painting on canvas board by well recognized Cincinnati artist Jacob Pfeiffer (Romanian b. 1936). The vertical composition illustrates a lone Native American fishing on a serene lake from a canoe, the tonal quality of the painting blurs the horizon line and only the rising sun is seen burning off early morning fog. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right corner, a linen filet and silver wood frame compliment the image.
Jacob Pfeiffer was born in Romania in 1936 then fled to Austria as a young boy to escape Communism. At the age of 19, he came to America and settled in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1969 he entered an art competition winning first prize and was approached by Closson’s Art Gallery where he had three very successful solo exhibitions. Pfeiffer has always felt a deep empathy toward Native Americans and his paintings of American Indians are most avidly sought. Jacob Pfeiffer currently has retired to live in Las Cruces, NM.
