Item Details

An expressive 20th century original oil painting on canvas covered board by well recognized local artist Royal Hill Milleson (American 1849-1936).
The impressively large painting illustrates a fall landscape with billowing white clouds against a turquoise sky, the tree with red foliage dominating the left half of the composition is reflected in a lake at the foreground. In 1903 he had his first painting accepted for exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago where he subsequently exhibited another 18 times between 1903 and 1915. In 1905 he had a one man show at a gallery on Walbash Avenue which was met with very positive reviews. In 1912 his book titled The Artist’s Point of View was published. Royal Hill Milleson work can be found in the Indianapolis Museum of Art and his landscapes are avidly sought by private collectors.
