A charming pair of Rookwood giraffe bookends, number 6768, by artist Louise Abel. This delightful pair of giraffes are covered with an olive over matte brown glaze, impressed with the Rookwood symbol, date, and pattern number. The number 9592 is also written in black ink on the bottom of each.
Artist Louise Abel was born in Widdern Wurtttemburg, Germany in 1894. Miss Abel started as a decorator at Rookwood Pottery in 1919 and remained there until 1932. While working at the pottery, she created many animal figures for bookends, paperweights and figures for fountains, as well as decorating vases.

Condition

Both pieces in very good condition. No cracks, chips, or crazing.
