Original Paul Chidlaw Nude Figure Watercolor Painting
Item Details
An original watercolor painting on paper depicting a nude figure by well regarded Cincinnati artist Paul Chidlaw (1900 – 1989). Chidlaw taught at both Our Lady of Cincinnati College (now part of Xavier University) and the Art Academy of Cincinnati from 1946 to 1963 where he was also a student from 1919 to 1923 before going on to study at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Fountainbleu, France. Chidlaw’s art is highly revered and is displayed at the Cincinnati Art Museum and Xavier University as well as many private collections. The Chidlaw Gallery at the Art Academy of Cincinnati is also named in his honor as he is still revered for being one of the first Abstract Expressionists to work in Cincinnati. This phenomenal painting is relative to Chidlaw’s more purely expressive works. It is signed in pastel to the lower right-hand corner, presented behind black mat, under glass, in a beveled wood frame with whitewash finish.
