"St. Jean Baptiste" Simon Valee Restrike Engraving
Item Details
An antique restrike engraving titled St. Jean Baptiste, d’Après le Tableau de Raphaël, qui est dans le Cabinet du Roy originally engraved by French artist Simon Valée (1703 – 1770). An incredibly detailed depiction of Saint John the Baptist straddling a tree trunk, pointing at a small cross with the river Jordan in the distance. The title is in plate below the image area, plate number 14, as indicated to the lower right. Presented behind white mat with gilt trim interior, under glass, in a gilt wood frame with molded decorative applique.

- some foxing to paper.
