Navajo Sterling and Turquoise Slave Bracelet and Ring Combination
Item Details
A unique designed sterling and turquoise Navajo slave bracelet and ring combination. The bracelet has turquoise stones, in sterling setting bands of leaves and flowers; a chain drops from the bracelet to a turquoise set pendant in a mirrored design, then to a ring with similar features. Ironically, these bracelets do not appear to have any connection to Native American history, but rather began to be made in the 1970s to satisfy a demand. They were called ‘slave bracelets’ because the ring is attached to the bracelet, thus making it a ‘slave.’ This bracelet is signed ‘C. Yazzie’.
Dimensions
The ring appears to be a size 7.
This piece weighs approximately 1.319 ozt inclusive of the turquoise.
