An army green Oliver No. 5 typewriter manufactured in Chicago. Oliver Standard Visible. Latest patent date is Aug. 24th 1909. The Oliver with its inverted u-shaped type bars that swing down from two towers, was the first effective ‘visible print’ typewriter, meaning the text was visible to the typist as it was being entered. The distinctive shape of the machine automatically focuses the typist on the couple of text that are visible while writing.
Condition
Carriage does not move when typing. Would benefit from cleaning.
