Hand-Hooked 'Priscilla Turner' Round Rug
Item Details
A large, round hand-hooked rug in a mustard tone with off-white borders and a central medallion. This piece is 100% virgin wool and a product of the Priscilla Turner Rug Guild. The company’s origin was in 1922 in Turner, Maine under the name of ‘DeForest Products Company’ after none of its owners. It was later changed to ‘DeForest Association’ and finally to the ‘Priscilla Turner Rug Company’. The company was in business for about twelve years; no one is sure where the name came from, unless it was created around the name of the town and intended to give the company an American feel. Each rug should have the name of the person who hooked it on it. This rug was hooked by ‘Hazel Richards’ for ‘Warren W. Chidd’ at ’Stewart’s’ in Louisville.
