Vintage Indonesian Shadow Puppet
Item Details
A vintage Indonesian shadow puppet depicting Bima, one of the five sons of King Pandu, used to interpret plays based on Indian mythology. Made with leather hide and horn. The leather is intricately cut in a pierced design an hand painted in fine patterns. The leather is attached to thin rods made of horn. Also a hand carved wooden example of a shadow puppet with painted finish which is missing it’s arms.
Condition
One rod has part broken off and missing. The wood example is missing arms and rods.
