Two Native American Mother and Child Framed Prints

Item Details

A lot of two Native American prints both featuring Mother and Child. A vintage Gerda Christoffersen. Christoffersen worked in pastels, and created these ‘Papoose’ pictures between 1950-1969. Born in Denmark, Christoffersen emigrated to Canada with her family. In her teens, as a creative young artist, she originated her unique artistic interpretations of the papoose. Gerda Christoffersen was already an acclaimed artist when she came to New Mexico as a young woman. Here, immersed in the tragic history and tribal lore of our Southwest Indians, the artist devoted her subsequent years to portraying the pride of those people. She was adopted by Sitting Bull and her title in Sioux is Princess O-Hazee-Tah.tho. This piece is under glass and framed in Vintage barn wood. The next piece is a print done by M. Caroselli. It is a Mother and young daughter in traditional dress and is framed and under glass. The double matting is in an oval in beige and medium brown.
