An Original Gouache Painting on Paper
Item Details
An original still life painting by Cincinnati’s own, very well-listed artist Jack Meanwell (1919 – 2005). A depiction in gouache washes of a conch shell and three pieces of fruit on a blue backdrop, signed in black ink to the lower left-hand side dated 1977. This work of art is presented to you unframed, awaiting your choice of presentation.
An instructor at the Art Academy of Cincinnati for over 25 years, Meanwell holds a special place among collected Cincinnati painters and is certainly comparable in many respects to Paul Chidlaw. The pair had their works exhibited together in 2010 at the Mary Ran Gallery, in an exhibit called “Paul Chidlaw and Jack Meanwell – Battle of the Abstract Expressionists.”
