Jack Meanwell Original Watercolor and Gouache Painting On Arches
Item Details
An original watercolor and gouache painting on heavy weight Arches Torchon paper by Cincinnati’s own, very well-listed artist Jack Meanwell (1919 – 2005). A river scene depicting a fisherman paddling in his canoe surrounded by lush foliage. Meanwell holds a special place among collected Cincinnati painters and is certainly comparable in many respects to Paul Chidlaw. The pair had their works exhibited together in 2010 at the Mary Ran Gallery, in an exhibit called “Paul Chidlaw and Jack Meanwell-Battle of the Abstract Expressionists.” Jack Meanwell also taught at the Art Academy of Cincinnati for over 25 years. This work of art is unframed, signed by Meanwell in paint to the lower right-hand side.
