African Animal Print Pair
Item Details
A pair of African animal prints. These two prints feature a young African elephant male and a young leopard male. The signatures in the left-hand bottom corner of both prints indicate that they are modern offset lithographs of the art of Jacques Christoph Werner (1798-1856), a renowned French nature artist. Also on these prints are the lithographer’s signage to the right bottom corner. One reads Lithog de C. de Last.. One print reads Léopard, Mãle, depicting a fine young male specimen in profile. The other print reads Eléphant Jeune, mãle du’Afrique and shows a young African male elephant, tusks not visible yet. Both prints are matted and framed under glass with gilt wood frames.
