"Appeal to the Great Spirit" Native American Oil Painting
Item Details
A wonderful Native American oil on canvas painting, circa 1930, titled Appeal to the Great Spirit after the famous statue by Cyrus Dallin. This painting depicts a Native American man atop a horse with his arms open, lifted to the sky. They stand on a vast landscape below a cloud covered sky. A faint signature is below the man to the lower right-hand side possibly reading ‘Mario Shawl’. This painting is presented in a beveled wood frame, with a wire on the reverse side for hanging.
Condition
- heavy discoloration to varnish of paint. Hole in canvas, paint flaking. Heavy surface damage to frame. Separation at joints of frame.
