Antique Japanese Carved Bird and Dragon Armchair (Circa 1900s)

Item Details

An antique Japanese highly carved and elaborate armchair with dragon and bird design. In a black finish with an ornately carved flying bird design on the seat back, this carved armchair includes a dark red dragon painted on the veneer seat. The chair is possibly rosewood or boxwood. The reverse side of the seat back is not as ornately carved.

Condition

A section of wood is broken where the right arm meets the seat, and is shown in situ for re-gluing. A small gouge in the seat.
