Pair of Vintage Chinese Three Panel Hand-Carved Wooden Screens

A pair of vintage Chinese hand-carved wooden folding screen dividers, dating to the period of Communist China in 1966. The screens are in a rich golden and reddish brown which appears to be walnut (Hetao). Each screen has three hinged panels and is intricately carved in a relief depicting figurals in traditional period dress. Mostly featuring women and children in courtyard scenes of a fine lady, her attendant and children close by amidst pagoda structures, bamboo, blossoming wisteria trees, floral blossoms and vegetation. The women and young girls all have flowers adorned in their hair. One panel depicts an elder wise-man teaching a young child. There are symbolic elements throughout which signifies beauty and longevity. Also with blossoming plum branches in a vase and traditional decorative elements in the home including Chinese hanging lanterns, garden seats, and tri-pod censers. The top of the screens are carved in small cartouche medallions, the back of the screens are uncarved, handset wood joints and the bottom of the screens are supported with casters.
Condition
Some occasional wear and scratches on the wood surface. May need a little cleaned up.
Dimensions
Each panel on the three screen panel is 18" W – one three screen panel is 54 1/2" W x 1" D x 73 3/4" H including the casters. Both panels combined are approximately 109" W x 1" D x 73 3/4" H including casters.
