1930 Publication "The Decameron" Illustrated by Jean De Bosschere

The 1930 publication titled The Decameron of Giovanni Boccaccio, translated by Richard Aldington and fabulously illustrated in color by Jean de Bosschere. The two volume set was published in red cloth covers with gilt spines by Covici, Friede Publishers, New York. Illustrator Jean de Bosschere (1878-1953) was born in Belgium and attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp til 1900. He spent much time in Paris where he affiliated himself with writers and became fixated with the occult. When WWI broke out, Bosschere fled to London where he met DH Lawrence, TS Elliot and Ezra Pound and illustrated many books.
