"Vas You Effer In Zinzinnati?" Pitcher and Mugs, Pre-Prohibition
Item Details
A rare and avidly sought complete set of circa 1920’s beer mugs and pitcher. ‘Vas You Effer in Zinzinnati’ is printed to the front of this pre-prohibition beer pitcher and four mugs which also colorfully illustrate to the front of each a portly gent wearing a top hat while enjoying a brew. The mugs and tall pitcher were most likely decorated by renown German beer stein artist Hugo Thuemler who was popular at the turn of the century and distributed by the F.A. Schwill & Son Co. (operated 1889-1914) as stamped to the bottom. The set was given to lucky recipients as compliments of The J.M. Schott & Sons Co. Cooperage in Cincinnati, Ohio which is printed at the back of each. Interestingly, the Schott family lived on the west side of Cincinnati (Cleves Warsaw Road) in Pine Meer, a Tudor Revival featured in the reality show The Mansion aired on TBS in 2004.
Condition
Both the pitcher and the set of four mugs are in very good condition without any chips or cracks. The transfer printed images are good and crisp with little to no wear.
Dimensions
The measurements refer to the pitcher. The Mugs measure 5" high x 4" wide.
