An original Shigeo Wakaishi oil on canvas painting of a river and trees. Wakaishi (b. 1917) is a Japanese impressionistic painter from the Japanese School and uses oil to paint people and landscapes on tile, wood, and canvas from the late 1930s through the 1960s. Wakaishi used thick application of paint to create a dimensional landscape, with thinner layers of green for the grass and fields, and even thinner blue for the water, the thickness of the white and red accentuate clouds, reflections, and turning leaves. This painting is signed in the lower right ‘S. Wakaishi. N.’ and is presented unframed.
