A vintage Dresden-Art porcelain lace dancing couple figurine. This figural pair, depicted dancing, is designed in ivory with hand painted gold tone accents, and her garment is layered porcelain Dresden lace. To create the illusion of real fabric, actual lace was dipped into porcelain slip and when fired in a kiln, the fabric would burn away, leaving a fragile shell of frozen crinoline skirts behind. This figurine is marked with an early mark of Wilhelm Rittirsch’s Dresden studio, which operated from 1950-1974. The faces have been meticulously hand-painted and provide the only color to the piece. Number 475 is embossed on the bottom.
