Vintage Arraiolos Portuguese Handmade Needlepoint Rug

A beautiful vintage Arraiolos Portuguese handmade wool needlepoint rug in cream and sage. The rug was made in the small town of Arraiolos, Portugal, where needlepoint rugs have been traditionally made since the Middle Ages. This rug has a cream background with an overall foliate diagonally pattern in sage green, with a sage foliate border accented by yellow, pink and raspberry. The rug has a cream loop fringe and is marked to the verso. The rug has never been placed on the floor and is in pristine condition.
