Original Drypoint Outsider Etching "American Woman"

Item Details

An original dry point etching with aquatint signed to the lower right hand corner by an unknown artist. The print is entitled ‘American Woman,’ and is marked at the lower left as the second impression in an extremely limited edition of just three prints. The image is an amazing example of modern self taught or outsider art, straying into an area void of political correctness, effectively parodying the American Imperialist, and capitalist consumer mentality. An archetypal American woman holds a flag and a smoking gun, and apparently she is a divine being, a bombastic missionary, as her wings and halo suggest. She is framed by patriotic text ‘Stars and Stripes Forever, AMERICA!, F@$! Yea!’ The mark making is very crude and would appear to have been carried out with either a dremel tool or perhaps a roulette, the former being more likely than the latter. An incredible print for the collector of Americana artwork or outsider art. Comes to you in a clear bag awaiting your choice of presentation.
