Antique Spindle Back Rocking Chair

Item Details

An antique spindle back rocking chair with both spindle and straight rods in back and on the sides. The chair also has spindle turned legs in front and four support rods with the front rod having a spindle in the center. There is a scallop carved drop piece just beneath the seat in front, and the top of the back has two open slits and finials with brass on either side. The seat may have been cane at one time and has been replaced with wood, and there is still some damage. The brass rivets for the original seat can still be seen. A metal bar has been added to either side for additional support. The oldest wood on the chair appears to be elm.

Condition

The seat has been repaired but there is still some damage and supports have been added to the sides.
