Original Watercolor Signed Homer Hacker

An original framed watercolor by Homer Hacker of Kettering, Ohio. The colors are soft, yet clear, of a European cobblestone street with children playing among the tall buildings. The roofs are brightly colored tile. This is signed in red to the lower right corner. This is professionally framed and matted under glass. The mat is white and the frame is a resin that mimics burled walnut. There is an artist’s card on the back. Hacker was born in 1917 in Dayton, Ohio. He studied at The Dayton Art Institute from 1929-35 and graduated from Ohio University in 1939 BA, cum laude. He was an art director/chief photographer for the Dayton Daily News from 1945-57. Hacker began teaching in ’65, and conducted watercolor workshops in portraiture, landscape and general design. Hacker worked mainly in transparent watercolor and had a broad knowledge of many media. He has judged many regional and national art shows, including the Space Coast International show in Florida, 1978. He has had 28 one-artist shows throughout the U.S. His work is in the permanent collections of The Charles and Emma Frye Museum in Seattle, the Zanesville Art Museum, and the White House Historical Association. In 2001 his painting was selected for the April page of the White House Calendar. Hacker died on December 20, 2013 at the age of 96. Please view the link provided below for more information.
