‘The Works of William Makepeace Thackeray’, 23 of 24 vols., published in Philadelphia by J.B. Lippincott & Co., 1879. The collection is cloth-bound in deep green with blind embossed decoration to the boards and a gilt stamped title at the spine. William Makepeace Thackeray (1811- 1863) was an English novelist of the 19th century. He was famous for his satirical works, particularly Vanity Fair, a panoramic portrait of English society. A large folio titled ‘The Orphan of Pimlico’ by Thackeray, published in Philadelphia by J. B. Lippincott in 1876 is also included. The book contains sketches, fragments and drawings by the author.
Condition
Overall the books are in good condition with slight rub wear but little toning and no foxing .
