Antique Portuguese Flintlock Carbine Dated 1794

Item Details

A suitably handsome late 18th century flintlock cavalry carbine, likely Portuguese, dated 1794. The piece features a walnut stock, steel lock plate, monogrammed ‘SR’ seemingly, in a rolling script, with ‘R5 D 30’ on the sand cast brass trigger guard, potentially a military mark, ‘Lisboa’ on the back of the lock plate, with the date of 1794, a crown hallmark on the top of the round barrel, approximately .625 caliber. Ramrod, with ‘captive rod’ and sling bar intact.

Condition

Consistent with age, although it does appear that the barrel was shortened at some point in it’s history.
