A Luigi Kasimir pencil signed color etching Hamburg, Zoli Canal #229 This beautiful work is matted and simply framed. Kasimir (1881-1962) created masterful pieces with unique coloring techniques and amazing attention to detail. Hamburg, Zoli Canal #229 is a color etching on heavy paper from the Germany series. Pencil signed by Kasimir to the bottom center.

Prior to Kasimir, etchings were normally done in black and white, and any coloring was done by hand. He developed an advanced printing method which involved multiple imprints of the same image layered atop one another. Diligent application of paints to up to six separate plates were used to create an original work of art. Sigmund Freud was a known collector of Kasimir’s work as he became world renowned in his lifetime.
