Sail Boat Lithograph By Leslie Kent
Item Details
This lithograph by British artist Leslie Kent, depicts sail boats and dinghies moored along a shoreline, near the edge of a dock. The title of this work is unknown. Leslie Kent was a British painter (1890-1980) whose works consist mainly of coastal and maritime scenes, along with the occasional landscape. Educated at Bedales and Leeds Universities, he studied with Frank Milner from 1918-1920 at the artists’ colony in St. Ives, Cornwall. This colorful work shows the boats and sea during a sunny day, with a few dark edged clouds coming in over the dock. The light plays on the water, creating a reflective surface. The sea is calm, but bears a hint of the choppiness that will surely come if the storm comes in. This work is signed in plate by the artist in the lower left corner. This print is presented behind glass in a simple gold painted wooden frame with an ivory mat.
