A fabulous and hard-to-find Mid Century Modern walnut dining table and six chairs, from the American of Martinsville ‘Dania’ collection. Originally purchased in 1959, these pieces were created by American of Martinsville to reflect the clean lines of the Danish Modern style, but with pieces that could be interchanged and organized to suit the personalized needs of homeowners. The company’s literature from 1959 hails the collection as ‘DANIA … flexible as your own imagination and adaptable to your every need’. Shown here are are the No. 4001-23 Table with three leaves, two 4000-26 Arm Chairs, and four 400-27 Side Chairs. The table features book matched walnut veneers that are diagonally set, with tapered solid walnut legs and base. The chairs have tapered legs and back supports, bentwood back comprised of plys of walnut, and modernist style fabric seats in cream, plum and teal.
Condition
Very good to good vintage condition; minor wear consistent with age and use.
