A 1964 New York World’s Fair sterling silver medallion of Michelangelo’s La Pieta. The medallion features a pressed image of the famous sculpture with its dates around it ‘Roma 1408 Pieta by Michelangelo New York 1964’ and signed on the bottom ‘Amanca 1964’ and on the reverse ‘Towle/Medallic Art Sterling’. This medallion was made to commemorate the presentation of La Pieta at the World’s Fair in 1964 issued from the Vatican in Rome. The total weight of sterling silver is 2.14 troy ounces.
