A vintage Chinese hand carved stone sculpture. The image depicts auspicious symbols and mythical creatures. A Buddha sits atop an Imperial Shi guardian lion with a nearby warrior protector holding a ring on the left side of the lion, a monkey on the right side of the lion symbolizing the driving away of an evil spirit, and an Imperial dragon above representing one of the twelve symbols of sovereignty and the cardinal direction of the East (Qinglong) amidst stylized clouds, a peach hidden in the clouds symbolizing the divine fruit of the Gods, with pagoda temple at the top. The back has a lotus, a sign of purity and enlightenment, and a lotus leaf symbolizing one of the eight Buddhist symbols of good fortune. The sculpture appears to be a brown and white agate and rests on a carved Huali wood footed base with openwork foliate scrolls.
