A wonderful mid-20th century bronze sculpture by listed Canadian artist Esther Wertheimer (1962- ) depicting a lanky basketball player in the action of dribbling a ball. This small yet lively tabletop piece is mounted on green marble and signed in the cast. Ester is quoted in Ask Art as saying, ‘In creating my sculptures, I use dance movement to express a feeling of delirious visual excitement. My objective was to transform bronze into a symbol of the spirit – inanimate material into pulsating beings.’ – Esther Wertheimer
