Antique S-Shaped Roll Top Railroad Desk

Item Details

A magnificent antique S-shaped roll top railroad desk. This imposing piece of furniture is made of quarter sawn oak, with some mahogany or burl walnut veneers and desk top inlay. When opened, the upper portion reveals two rows of square cubby holes with a small central mirror that lifts up to reveal smaller cubbies inside. Underneath this to either side are slots to hold paper, and beneath that two more small drawers. The pedestal supports to the desk itself each have three equal sized upper drawers with a larger drawer to bottom. Just under the desk top are two slide-out work surfaces to ensure plenty of space to get important work done. (Item will require adequate assistance for removal from premises on scheduled pickup day.) Contents in desk not included.

Condition

There is a circular area near back of desk top that has some plastic adhered to it. Slide-out work surface to left has a different finish to it than the rest of the desk and doesn’t pull out smoothly (may not be original). The one in the other side can push back too far into desk, but can be retrieved simply by opening the top drawer. There are a few scuff marks to edges. A few small pieces of veneer are missing around the small mirror.
