A fine black-and-white etching depicting the iconic Italian Renaissance entrance to the Art Institute of Chicago and its recognizable bronze lion sentinel. Titled in pencil on lower left and signed by renowned Chicago artist S. Chester Danforth in pencil on the lower right, it is printed on heavy wove with full margins behind glass in a simple black painted wood frame. Although not a native of Chicago, Danforth is celebrated for his distinctive architectural renderings of that dynamic city.
Condition
The paint on the frame has some areas of wear.
