An original Abstract Expressionist acrylic on canvas painting by the well-listed Netherlands artist Joop Sanders (1921- ). In the 1950s and ‘60s, Sanders joined the American Abstract Expressionist movement in New York, studying under Willem de Kooning and George Gross, as well as exhibiting in the famous ’9th Street Art Exhibition’ alongside Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchel, Willem de Kooning and many more. Sanders has exhibited in several solo and group shows, displaying his abstract expressionist painterly style. In the acrylic on canvas painting features vivid brushstrokes of melding colors with an impasto geometric central form composed of straight and blurred lines. The work is signed to the bottom left and is stretched, but does not have a fitted frame.
