Rare Boy on Ball German Figurine by Professor Theodor Karner

Item Details

A rare antique German porcelain figurine by Professor Theodor Karner of a young boy balancing on a golden ball. The figurine is marked with the old ‘Eschenbach’ spelling ‘Efchenbach’ the porcelain manufacturer where Karner worked as the head of the design department. Karner (1884-1966) was one of Germany’s most prestigious porcelain artists; he sculpted incredible figurines for Germany’s finest porcelain factories including Meissen, Rosenthal, Eschenbach, Allach, Hutschenreuther, Nymphenburg, and Thomas & Lindner. His work was very popular and highly prized. This particular figurine was produced at Eschenbach between 1947 and 1953 and the subject is a boy on a ball. Karner was known primarily for his animal figurines. Our research on this piece resulted in the belief that this piece is rare, as nothing else like it was found. Don’t miss this opportunity to add this equisite Karner piece to your collection.
