Vintage Gulf Double-Sided Glass Gas Pump Globe

A spectacular piece of petroliana! A vintage Gulf double-sided glass gas pump globe. It is a rare to find an undamaged globe such as this, due to the harshness of outdoor conditions and fragility of glass. The gas pump globe was brand identification at a distance for the driver. Lighting in the 40’s-60’s wasn’t as bright as it is today and the glowing globe was one way the gas company could put it’s name out to the public. After the 1960’s, it was unusual to have a globe on the pump. The globe has the iconic Gulf orange to the background, with a navy blue double border and navy blue ‘shadowed’ Gulf text to the center. The white glass globe is dimensional with both sides featuring the orange, navy and white Gulf logo. The globe has a rounded base which fitted into the top of the gas pump.This lighted glass lens globe was displayed on top of a Gulf gas pump in the golden era of service stations. A super petrioliana collectible with great color and design!
